SolarWave makes a big difference for people in Pakistan

SolarWave has set up solar powered water purification systems in Pakistan. These systems make a big difference for people who do not have access to safe water, but now, can enjoy safe portable water. UNHABITAT says “This is the future, being able to solve water problems by means of SolarWave’s systems is so easy wherever there is a need”.

To support the Pakistan market, Kings Group in Karachi has become our distributor, and will take on the sales, logistics and after sales within the country.

SolarWave develops 3rd generation solarcells and strengthen the organisation.

SolarWave is going to develop a new means of producing flexible thinfilm solarcells, so called 3rd generation solar cells. The flexible thinfilm solarcells will open new possibilities to use solar energy, as they will be integratable into a number of different applications. 3rd generation solarcells will be more cost efficient to produce and install.

As a step to strengthen SolarWave’s organisation, Johan Wennerberg has been appointed CTO. Johan has long experience in solar research and product development from M2 and Q-Cells in Germany. He has worked as CTO at M2 Engineering AB where he has been working with machines for production of solar cells. Johan will be a corner stone in SolarWave’s strategic plan to drive research and develop solar technology.

SolarWave AB and Bloomfields Systems launches solar powered water purification system in Nairobi

SolarWave AB invited ministries, aid agencies, customers and partners to mingle at the launch of its water purification system in Nairobi. The launch took place in cooperation with the SolarWave East African distributor, Bloomfield systems.

The launch was held at Serena Hotel in Nairobi where Bengt Skörelid (SolarWave) and Jonathan Mueke (Bloomfield Systems) presented the distribution concept and test drove the products to the guests. Davis Stowe, chief of the Ministry of Water official, gave the closing speech. A speech in which he emphasized the importance of the rapid development of the Kenyan rural areas and where access to safe water is the prerequisite needed for development.

” We see that SolarWave’s introduction to the Kenyan market has a great way to bring new technologies and concepts to Kenya, which facilitates much of the ministries, organizations, and others to provide good and safe water to more people than was previously possible”. Says Davis Stowe.

SolarWave’s CEO Bengt Skörelid went to Kenya last week to deliver and demonstrate water purification and desalination systems. Bengt met with local authorities, aid agencies and safari camps that are working together for the sustainable development of tourism, health and community development in the Kenyan National Parks.

“We have received great response regarding our unique system from the government ministries, municipalities, organizations and lodges. SolarWave has positioned itself well in the Kenyan market, as well as adding the commercial platform that we can continue to grow”. Says Bengt Skörelid.

After the product launch, a number of follow-up meetings are to be held with communities and customers, and then continuing on with the establishment in Tanzania.

The system is currently established in Kenya and Pakistan. It has been placed for the longest period of time in Kenya i.e. since February 2010. In the areas where the systems are installed today, there no longer exists any water-borne diseases.

SolarWave AB manufactures and distributes an innovative, portable and solar-based water purification and desalination systems. The systems are powered by solar panels and require no external power supply. SolarWave’s product eliminates up to 99.99% of the bacteria in the water, solving the serious problems of water-borne diseases found in all developing countries. The purification system has a capacity of 700 liters per hour, at the same time the system provides access to electrical energy for lighting and other energy needs.

SolarWave in Africa

Bengt Skörelid reports from Masai Mara Nature Reserve on the savannah in Kenya.
The reserve is municipal and is also supported by an NGO foundation.
On presentation, there was direction and authorization of the local management, who were very impressed by the system. We purified and drank the water “No Problem”.
We showed both water treatment and desalination. They said that the desalination system sounded like a lion, which marked his territory.
They were very interested and asked many questions.
There is no other treatment today than sand filters. The water is taken from a nearby river where there is high risk of infection because of the  microorganisms that  can be found (as well as crocodiles).
